From today onwards women can ride 100% Free in DTC Public Buses with Pink Ticket or Pink single Journey Pass in Delhi, as promised by the AAP government in its Election Manifesto.
This scheme has started from today on the occasion of Bhai Dooj in Delhi.
Women can get Pink Tickets from the Conductor to travel free in DTC Buses in Delhi. The value of this Ticket would be Rs. 10 and Delhi Government will reimburse this amount to DTC.
Transport minister Kailash Gahlot tweeted on Twitter. Tweet says, “Historic day for Delhi !!! Females will travel free in all Buses from 29.10.19. A notification has been issued. Delhi Govt under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Cm @ArvindKejriwal stands committed to ensure the safety and security of Female passengers in Buses.”
As per transport minister Mr. Gahlot, 30% travellers in DTC and cluster buses are women.
The free ride Pink Ticket Journey Passes can be availed in Noida-NCR, airport and other special services undertaken by DTC and cluster scheme bus operators.
If you are a woman employee of the Delhi government, local bodies and undertakings and if you travel using the Free Ride Scheme or Pink Ticket Scheme you will not get transport allowance.
More than 45 lacks passengers travel in DTC busses and this scheme would benefit many passengers.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced this Free Ride or Pink Ticket passes in DTS buses and Delhi Metro, in June 2019. This free ride scheme has now started in DTC but soon this would be available in Delhi Metro as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation request some time to implement this scheme.
Rs. 150 Crore has been allocated by the Delhi Assembly to implement this scheme in Delhi metro.
BJP has opposed this scheme by saying this is a tactic to lure voters to vote for the AAP party in the upcoming elections.

This free journey scheme in Delhi DTC buses has rolled out from Tuesday i.e. 29th October 2019 on the special occasion of ‘Bhai Dooj’.
According to the Delhi Government, this scheme of Pink Tickets or Free Journey in Delhi DTC buses and Metro is another step towards empowering women and ensuring their safety.
The AAP Government would reimburse the amount to DTC based on the number of tickets issued.
The Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Manish Sisodia tweeted this
“Free-ride for women in Delhi buses has started from today. Congratulations Delhi! Apart from women’s safety, it will also increase the role of women in Delhi economy…,”
Delhi government has issued a notification to implement this free-ride scheme in DTC buses from Tuesday.
